An Enveloping Sculptural Experience
The revolutionary exhibition The New Mother Sculptures is on view at Museum Cobra in Amstelveen until 2 March 2025!
The exhibition features over fifty sculptures by 38 different artists living in the Netherlands, displayed in a unique setting. A specially laid loam floor and soundscape ensures that the art is experienced in a new way: with all the senses!
The New Mother Sculptures transforms the museum’s upper room into a large, open landscape where contemporary artworks are on display. There are tapestries, conjuring constructions made of iron, a Canta with nitrous oxide cartridges, coloured glass bricks, plastic truck tarps, structures made of root tissue, an infinite bookcase and more.
The exhibition is curated by visual artist and curator Ad de Jong. In The New Mother Sculptures, De Jong experiments with the boundaries of the museum art experience and creates a space where the visitor and art meet in new ways.
The participating artists are: Maria Roosen, Hilke Walraven, Corine Zomer, HW Werther, Annegret Kellner, Yair Callender, Kristine Hymøller, Hester Oerlemans, Henk Visch, Sachi Miyachi, Théophile Blandet, Lisa Sebestikova, Saar Scheerlings, Maya Berkhof, Maaike Kramer, WONNE, Job Koelewijn, Elena Giolo, Diana Scherer, Jonas Ohlsson,Izaak Zwartjes, Arjanne van der Spek, Esther de Graaf, Femmy Otten, Hans van den Ban, Gijs van Poecke, Klaartje van Essen, Laura Canha Malpique, Mickey Yang, Simon Wald-Lasowski, Rens Spanjaard, Ad de Jong, Jordan Herregraven, Loma Doom, Maartje Korstanje, Afra Eisma, Ellen Yiu and Suzanne Plomp.
