American Photography

‘American Photography’ sheds light on the history of photography in the United States in more than 200 works. The exhibition shows how photography has conquered art, news, advertising and living rooms since its invention in the 19th century. With themes such as the American Dream, landscape and portrait, the exhibition examines how photographers have reflected on events in their country. Iconic works by photographers such as Sally Mann, Robert Frank, Lisette Model, Nan Goldin, Richard Avedon, Andy Warhol, Diane Arbus and James Van Der Zee are on display, together with surprising photos by less well-known and anonymous makers.

Until 9 June
