In total, 21 different experiences are featured at CaDance Festival. To get you started in choosing, these performances are grouped into three different types.
- Mesmerizing
Put your mind at rest for a moment and experience a performance you can lose yourself in. The performances in this programme make you forget your sense of time and self for a moment and leave you wondering and curious. - Reflective
It may feel safe to look at the world in black and white. But it feels even better not to get stuck in your own thinking and to look at it from a different angle. The performances in this programme incite you to think and give you a different perspective, with makers who share their idiosyncratic view of the world with you. - Energetic
Moving freely is still the best way to release. The performances in this programme make it hard to stay seated. Forget everything around you for a moment and enjoy performances that set you in motion with their constant cadence.
Still can’t choose? Here are some highlights
SENESCENE is a performative installation by Camiel Corneille, a Dutch artist and circus maker, and revolves around the question ‘what makes us human?’ The project is an attempt to counter his transience and find an answer to society’s ideal of malleability. In SENESCENCE, he spins, plays and fights in a kinetic sculpture; a contemporary translation of Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man.
In Exit Sign & Stand By Me you get two performances in one. This show is about the drive for more power in this world and the longing for a beloved one. This double bill showcases the work of Dutch-Moluccan artist Zino Schat and Ukrainian artist Vladyslav Detiuchenko.
A house party in the Tehran of 1991. This is the setting for a re-enactment that Iranian choreographer Sina Saberi has established for his piece Basis of Being. He invites us to recreate that evening together, and choreographically (re)discover ourselves and our/the past. The host travels with the audience through moving images of a past. It’s up to us to choose: are we the guest who only wants to observe, or the guest who perhaps wants to participate in the dance?
